The name Arcturus derives from the ancient Greek word Ἀρκτοῦρος'  (Arktouros), meaning "Guardian of the Bear”. The Arcturus name was given to the brightest star in the northern celestial hemisphere as viewed from earth and it is located in the Boötis constellation
